What should you know?

The food is surprisingly good and surprisingly affordable. Be careful about ordering a Hurricane, the restaurant’s signature drink. Not only is it deceptively potent, but you are also automatically charged for the souvenir glass, and if you don’t want it, you must turn it in at the bar for a refund.

What’s it like inside?

A fairly faithful rendition of the original Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans, from the redbrick facade to the fire-and-water fountain in the courtyard. The outdoor dining area is the most pleasant place to eat. Inside areas include a noisy “locals” bar and a dueling piano bar, featuring some of Orlando’s most talented musicians. A cover charge is levied after 9 p.m. when the venue is open late because it’s mostly a music venue that also serves food.

What are the specialties?

Shrimp gumbo, jambalaya, muffuletta, and red beans and rice.
