The room itself was very, very small. Go for the 'deluxe' room for any sort of extra space if more than 2 in your party. And the beds were awful.

Floor plans are oddly shaped, owing to the hotel's curved footprint, but floor-to-ceiling windows and translucent dividers between the bed and bath help the rooms feel more spacious.

Urban Pantry In lieu of a full-service restaurant, Aventura Hotel has a fast-casual food court off the main lobby. Inspired by big-city indoor markets, this nextgeneration food hall follows all the hip foodie trends: individual feeding stations, each with its own open kitchen and cash register, serving healthier and more diverse dining, in a minimalist industrial environment. Unfortunately, the pandemic pushed most of the more upscale items off the menu. In the morning, pancakes, scrambled eggs, and other American breakfast standards—along with Belgian waffles and fresh fruit—are served. For lunch and dinner, start at the stir-fry station for a bowl of beef or chicken lo mein. The burger station grills thick patties, either Black Angus beef, turkey, or the vegan Beyond meat substitute. The roast station serves chicken sandwiches and fish tacos, and pizzas can be topped with cheese or pepperoni. End your meal with a scoop of gelato or a shot glass–size cake. We’ve found food quality here to generally be above average, but we hear complaints from readers about the hall’s confusing layout and slow service.

Bar 17 Bistro Even if you aren’t staying at Aventura, you’ll want to visit the hotel just to ride the dedicated elevator to the 17th floor and take in the picture-postcard panorama from the roof. But the carefully balanced craft cocktails and savory small plates of exotic flavors are what will make you want to linger at Bar 17 Bistro long past sunset. Begin by picking one of the signature cocktails (Seth recommends the Japanese whisky-based Volcano View) or a draft craft beer. Next, order a couple of appetizers—like the Korean-style spicy fried chicken wings and international cheese plate—or a burger from the short selection of entrées. A word of warning: Bar 17 Bistro’s glorious open-air atmosphere includes complimentary exposure to wind and rain. In case of a severe storm, the entire establishment may temporarily shut down.

Shopping

Universal hotels have gifts shops near their lobbies with a decent collection of souvenirs. You will also find basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like.

Universal recommends a third party company, Kid's Nite Out, to provide babysitting services at the resort hotels.
